Surah & Dua Memorisation
Importance
Surah and Dua each have their own role in the life of a Muslim. Surah are essential in order for us to pray our Salah, to build an attachment with the Quran as well as provide ourselves with spiritual protection. Dua also builds a spiritual protection as well as provides us with reminders throughout the day of the existence of Allah, his plans for us and the temporary nature of this world.
What we teach
Using our own book, Essence of Worship, we have combined kalimah, daily dua and Quranic dua into one book, covering the essential dua that a Muslim should know.
Alongside this, we encourage our students to learn as many surah as possible from the Quran. This is on condition that they regularly revise and be tested on the surah they have already memorised, as it is a sin to forget the memorised portions of the Quran.
We also use this time to memorise dua that link in to the Islamic studies lessons, such as memorising all of the necessary salah dua as well as a few additional dua that can be recited after salah.
Assessment
At the end of each term, all students will be assessed, allowing them to demonstrate what they have learnt to the teachers and their parents. With this, the teachers and students gain an insight as to the level that the student is working at, as well as which topics, if any, would need to be revisited in the following term.
The following highlights the exam types for each level
Beginner: Oral exam
Intermediate: Oral and written exam
Advanced: Oral and written exam
